Another river is found to flow under the bed of the Amazon, which is the longest in the world.
Scientists in Brazil discovered about 6 km long river under the Amazon, reported EFE, a Spanish news agency, on Thursday quoting local media Estado de S. Paulo. It is said that they discovered the river while studying 241 wells made by Petroleo Brasileiro, the state-run oil company in Brazil, to drill oil.
The length of newly found one is 1 km shorter than the Amazon, which starts from the Andes Mountain to the Atlantic and it is drawing similar pattern with the Amazon.
The scientists have decided to call the rive “Hamza,” named after Valiya Mannathal Hamza, a scientist who have studied this area for more than 40 years.
